Puppy is resource guarding me 🙁

I’m struggling emotionally today.

Stats: 6 month old intact female. 20 lbs. Will spay as soon as some tummy issues resolve. Has been with us for a month. Had Giardia with the rescue and tested positive for it with us about 3 weeks ago. Still waiting for 3 full days of solid healthy poops. She’s a lot of breeds: chihuahua, husky, Malinois, small poodle, supermutt mix: chow, Pekingese and schnauzer, and GSD. We thought she was a terrier.

We went to a basic skills dog training class last night and the trainer quickly identified that our dog is resource guarding me. Idk if I want advice (I’ve seen it all online) or just someone to tell me I’m being too hard on myself. I feel hopeless and lost. And so guilty.

This is the second dog we’ve had in our house to do this to me specifically ☹️ The first was a completely shut down foster who quickly bonded to me and hated my bf. At least our new dog (already adopted, we love her) loves my bf too. She was docile with new ppl at first but over time started showing signs of aggression with strangers in our house. She’s ok in public but barked at the trainer last night when she approached. The rest of the hour i stayed a bit disengaged from her.

I do bond deeply with these pups. I also am trying to have boundaries and create structure, and we do easy quick training exercises every day. Both dogs have intense breeds (the foster was APBT/bulldog/GSD/mal… I sure do know how to pick em!!!) Idk man. This is just so hard to see and know how to address.

I’ve had a trainer come over before the class but I think I want to find a new one. She seems afraid of these dogs. She helped us with our reactive dog who died last year but maybe I need a new approach.
