Our six month old puppy is an absolute diamond when he’s out on a walk, he doesn’t bark at other dogs, he can be a little nervous, but otherwise calm and obey command to sit and stay. At home it’s a completely different story. He’s so reactive if he hears a dog when he’s outside in the yard, if he’s indoors and sees people or dogs out through the window, if he sees any animals or hears barking on the TV, he begins barking. We are of course aware dogs do and should bark, and we wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t so frequent, but it’s so annoying now. We’ve tried a couple of things: putting a leash on when he reacts, trying to calm him, distraction and we recently bought one of those weighted calming jackets but he’ll still react. Are we missing another trick? Can you suggest anything else we might try?
