Hi friends-title explains my situation! We have had our puppy for a month now-he’s about 3.5 months old. Until recently, we’ve put our hands in his bowl at meal time, and played with/handled him while he’s got special treats (Kong, “No Hide” bones, Yak chews, etc.) Today was his first day with a rover and he did great so after dinner I gave him a frozen bone marrow bone as a special reward while my partner and I ate our dinner. I came over to pet him and he growled at me and showed me teeth for the first time. I tried to pet him again and same thing-snarling and showing teeth. I went to his cookie jar and traded a small treat and took the bone while he was occupied. How do I handle this next time I want to give him one? Do I try holding onto it while he’s chewing so he knows it’s okay? We have cats and are planning on having children in the next few years so I want to nip this in the bud!
