puppy barks if I’m not the one with him

Hi everyone! my mom and I have a 4 month old puppy and he’s been doing great in his crate at night to sleep! however, his crate is in my room and I’m in his eyesight at night. I’m going out of town on a trip for 5 days so we wanted to see how he does in my moms room at night since she’ll be here with him whilst I’m gone but we quickly found out that he barks and claws and whines if it’s not me specifically and we’re unsure of what to do. does anybody have any tips on how we can get him used to being in my moms room?
