We've been struggling with our pup the last few weeks since he turned 10 months. All our training for the last few months has seemingly been forgotten. He's such a good boy and he's always trying to be good, but he gets way too excited when he meets people or other dogs and just wants to play all the time.
Anyway, we live in an apartment building and use the garden for our pup to pee and run around off lead. There are 5 other dog owners here too that also let their dogs run around, no big deal.
Today though, someone was walking through the garden taking out their bins when our pup ran to them and tried to jump up to them. He's a lurcher so he's not huge but definitely not small either.
I was profusely apologizing and put him straight back on the lead, but the person was rightfully pissed. They didn't say anything, just walked back inside super angry looking.
I'm so embarrassed. I adore our little guy and I desperately want other people to see how good he is, but it's hard when he ignores our commands in adolescence.
My wife is really mortified today, so I've offered to pop down to the person's apartment later and apologise again. Just because he's a puppy and other dogs play there doesn't excuse it, and I don't want to be the kind of owner who gets all defensive.
Just venting and hoping this bad behaviour spell ends soon. He was getting so good with his training but he's regressed a lot, and I don't want to get a reputation in the building either.
