Our 8 month old chiweenie just signaled to go out for the first time! And I think I got a little too happy about it.
We adopted our pup at 9 weeks and I cannot praise the foster Mom enough. She came to us mostly potty trained, even at that young, but still had an occasional accident for the first couple months. Totally understandable. But the accidents were less frequent and stopped pretty quickly compared to a lot of puppies.
She has never had to signal to go out because she took to our older dog's schedule fairly well. But today our older dog is having a lazy Saturday and just watching the birds out the window so puppy had to ask to go out.
She waa playing around with some new toys and just suddenly stopped, sat down in front of us and waited (same way our older dog does).
I am just so proud of her for knowing how to ask even though she never had to before.
I know it's a very minor thing, but it just made me so happy and she got a lot of praise for it.
