Pen training to sleep in

We have a 8 week old Beagle puppy. Only had her for one week. First night she did good in crate. 2nd night she started out good and started to whine so my wife put her in the bed. She has been there every night. I worry too much about her falling off and potting in bed 🙁 We want to train her to sleep in a pen with the crate attached to it to sleep in our bedroom. We will have 2 pens soon. One in bedroom with crate and another in my wife's craft room without a crate. Is 2 pens OK? Also what is the best way to train for for a pen? One we have setup now in the craft room. She wines and wants out when we put her in it when my wife leaves the room so she does not roam.
