Hi everyone,
We just got a rescue pup from Puerto Rico. His litter was found in the jungle, and he was flown into the US at 4 months old, where we picked him up from the airport. We've had him for 2 weeks.
Obviously, at first he was very reserved and shy, but has opened up over the past 2 weeks. My question is, it seems like his behavior is almost regressing? Is that normal?
For example, he figured out how to scratch the door to be let outside to pee, and then loved running around. Now he is absolutely terrified of it, cries when you bring him out, and just wants to pee inside.
He also was fine on walks for the first 12 days, and now he is afraid of the leash, runs away from the front door to hide, and if we try to bring him somewhere else he just sits and won't walk.
In the car, he now shakes uncontrollably and cries.
None of this happened until the past 2 days, seemingly out of no where.
I guess I am just reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced this? Or has advice? Or has encouragement that we aren't doing anything wrong?
Hw gets tons of love and treats and cuddles. I even started working from hoke so he isn't ever left alone.
