Hi everyone. This past Friday, I had went and gotten a 1year old intact Jack Russell. I picked him up from a lady who bred corgi’s. So the reason this dog was rehomed, was because the Male corgi did not like him. They got into fights, fighting over the females. So she had to rehome him. I was very excited to finally get a dog, and give him a loving home. I take him for walks, and he’ll bark at people until they come up and he gets super excited, wagging his tail and just getting all the love. My husband was not home from Friday, until today..Monday. So this dog has had the time to bond with just me. When he had came home, the dog was barking at the door, and whatever. I instantly showed my husband some love, and my husband sat on the floor to introduce himself to the dog. The dog instantly started peeing everywhere, growling. After some time alone, some treats and pets. He had seemed to warm up to my husband. We had taken him for a walk. I noticed that the dog would wait for me, would walk beside me and not my husband. He tried to move towards me, at some point I walked away, to allow them to walk together to spend time together. They did fine, everything was well. Later in the day, we had taken him for another walk, and I was ahead of them again while my husband and dog were behind me. The dog had saw another man, and he did fine. Barked a bit and tried to go towards the man, then he had gotten tangled up so my husband had tried to untangle him, and the dog got all crazy, and was peeing. Then he had bit my husband. I immediately took him back by leash, instead of him walking him. We had “punished” by putting him in his kennel.
Later on in the night. My husband and I are laying on the couch together. Dog comes up, and is rubbing all over us, laying on his back and overall being super sweet. My husband gets up to go grab something, and when he comes back. Dog is on my chest immediately growling as my husband comes closer.
We just got him.. and I don’t want to give up on him. We are hoping that when we get him neutered the behavior will change.
I’m just looking for som advice or tips. Any help at all as this is our first dog together.
