Long story story short, my family and I took in a 9 year old pitty mix (we are unsure of her breed), she is severely underweight, but so incredibly kind, well behaved, quiet, etc etc….. over great dog for the 6 hours I have know her.
WE ALREADY HAVE a 2 year old heeled we’ve had since 8 weeks, he has been the only dog for his first years of life. He is curious of her, yet skiddish/shy…. No aggression from either (no growls, teeth flares, haunches up, etc). My original dog is just not used to having a roomie that’s not humans.
HOW DO I HELP THEM BOND??? The new dog hasn’t been going on the couch, original dog is and they have food/water in separate areas, etc. (neither are food aggressive but want to be safe).
PLEASE GIVE ANY AND ALL TIPS!
I feel terrible for my 2 year old healer and pray he doesn’t feel betrayed or heartbroken, I feel bad for my family (even though they agreed to help) and how she kinda threw off our dynamic, yet I feel so sorry for this elderly and skinny dog, if I didn’t take her she would be at the pound…… and we know how elderly AND bully mixes are treated in the shelter…… usually killed…….. I feel conflicted and terrible.
Also I suspect she has ringworm and have been applying anti fungal and antibacterial ointment as well has having her wear a shirt to stop potential spread WE PLAN ON TAKING HER TO THE BET ASAP WE JUST RESCUED HER TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
