Need advice: large dog of 1 year and 3 months destroy furniture and chews chairs when left alone for 2-3-4 hours

Hi i have this problem, until now i am on rent and the things he destroys are not mine a part from the chair. Sometimes he also scratches the wall. Now I am going to buy a new home and it will also have a garden, but I won't leave the dog outside when I go out, at least not often since it may rain sometimes.
