Hello fellow parents
Please help. I am so tired. My maltipoo puppy has recently turned four months old, and just prior to that, she was sleeping in her crate through the night, no problems whatsoever. Now, I might as well be twisting her arm. She will sleep just fine in her crate during the day, but during the night, it is simply out of the question. And it doesn’t help that she has the most ear piercing bark I have ever heard from a dog, and she simply does not give up. As I type this, we are 30 minutes strong of barking and digging. She has gone to the bathroom, she is fed and watered, she is comfortable in there, she was tired before she went in. The last few nights I have hardly gotten 30 straight minutes of sleep between 12-4am before I have to her an unfortunate shout down. Are the teens this damn bad? Is there a melatonin for dogs?
For further context: no, I don’t yet want her in my bed. A few nights ago (damn me), I let her sleep with me because she was suffering from the side effects of the DHPP vaccine. If the only way this will end is with her in my bed, then so be it, but I too, like her, am stubborn. I just can’t fathom why she’s being like this besides adolescence.
