Brought home a 4.5 month old heeler and he has chosen me as his person. I work remotely so I inevitably spend more time with him as my husband goes into the office 3-5 days a week. But we both spend significant time playing, exploring, training, and taking turns feeding or going outside. I have been told by multiple people now that it’s typical of the breed (Australian cattle dog / blue heeler) to sort of choose one favorite person that they predominantly listen to and trust. It makes my partner frustrated that the pup often won’t listen to him for simple commands like “come” or can’t get him to go outside without him running to me instead. How do we handle this? Will he grow out of it? Do I need to leave the house and give my husband more one on one pup time? Open to all advice!
