I have a 7 month old hound mix and overall I would say he is shaping up to become a great dog once he is fully grown, outside of some recall issues and sass I assume are part of his adolescence.
However he likes to dig and that alone while annoying I know is fairly normal, however when he REALLY gets into it he seems to then becomes incredibly overstimulated? Nothing will grab his attention and if we try to calm him or move him away he gets a little snappy. His behavior sometimes feels scary, but doesn't come across as intentionally aggressive just seems like he is deep in his feelings and has no way of controlling it so he'll get a little bitey.
Any tips on how to manage these situations? We try to limit/manage any off-leash time in the yard since the digging seems to be a primary trigger.
He doesn't really snap like this unless he is really overstimulated and most of the time digging is involved at some point.
We have been to some training classes and plan to do more but just wondering if anyone has some tips that worked for them or just general advice. Thanks!
notes: he does have a scheduled nap routine throughout the day and we walk him once or twice a day about 1-2 miles depending on the day/our schedules.
