Maybe I've been out of the loop because we've used the same daycare/boarding place for a couple years, but we just moved and have to go out of town for an evening in 1.5 weeks and need our dogs boarded for the evening.
I made a booking on a site for a dog boarding/daycare that had decent reviews. They have all these subscription and membership packages which we don't really want to subscribe to just yet. So I picked the nonmember booking that has a little higher price, which is fine. Also in the booking it said dogs would need a play evaluation before boarding and daycare, which I also think is standard and fair. However, I get a call saying that actually on top of the evaluation, both dogs now need to come to daycare at least 3x sometimes more on top of the eval day before they can commit to boarding. They mentioned we could bypass all the requirements if we paid a super high fee per dog equalling over $200 for one night.
Idk it's seemed super money grabby to me? I think our last daycare just did an evaluation and to decide what play groups best suited our dogs, so idk if this is standard or not.
