Ideas to get a rescue stimulated/stop boredom.

Any ideas for helping a rescue have some enrichment activities? For context I am currently fostering a wolfhound x who is estimated to be no more than 2 years old.

The poor poppet had a rough start in life and was estimated to be on his own for a very long time. People are scary though I’ve made lots of headway on that. We’re working on the lead and walking and that’s going great. Car trips are scary but again we are working on that.

The saddest thing is he just spends a lot of time laying around chilling. It’s great in that he is not destructive, he isn’t a menace to be left alone for extended periods but surely he is bored?

Toys are so foreign he has no idea what to do with a ball or a rope. We had some success with stuffies when we first introduced them but now they’re just objects he has to step over. He has been known to collect shoes left at the door and take them outside with him but then he doesn’t chew them or anything at all.

Anything food wise is usually a winner, that comes from his history of never knowing when his next meal is coming so I also try to limit too much food play so we can have predictable meal times.

Suggestions?
