Hi everyone. So I’ve fallen in love with a dog whose rescue does home inspections. The dog itself doesn’t need anything in particular (no disability, no need to live alone/with pets, no fenced in yard, etc), so I assume the check is just to verify I live at the given address and there’s no obvious hazards. However the problem is I have open back stairs and while they’re not super tall/steep the dog is fairly short, and I fear they’re going to have a problem with that. I’m open to investing in maybe some kind of netting but want to know if they’ll even look at anything like that before I buy baby-proofing for a dog I don’t even have yet.
For context he’s a mix and they have no idea what he is, but he’s not snub nose or stub-legged, just on the shorter side. He’s kind of beagle-esque?
I considered telling them I’m going to gate off the stairs but my downstairs isn’t that big and I feel like they won’t like the idea of him being confined to just the first level. I would just love some advice of maybe how people with similar stairs got approved? Or just if anyone knows what they may look for during home inspection? I really love this dog and would be so upset if my stairs are what keeps me from having him.
