For context, i just got this puppy like 3 days ago from when i posted this. I am a first time puppy parent and i have done my research but its never enough.
i dont know if it matters a lot but shes a samoyed puppy.
my main problem is crate training and potty training.
when i put her in the crate, she just cries and wails. ive done my research but i do not have access to treats right now. i dont leave the room when i close the door and i sit with her. i covered her crate with a blanket to make it seem more den-like and i even noticed she doesnt like to sleep on carpets or any blankets so i dont have those in there. the crate is quite literally next to my bed in my room.
im trying to do that one method where you put the puppy in the crate for like 15 minutes 3x a day to get her used to it. but im a college student so it really isint realistic for me.
and when i put her outside on the lawn to potty, she just lays down and wants to sleep. shes had so many accidents inside and i do praise her when she does potty outside but im struggling so much with potty training her and im so sick of her going inside. she also doesnt whine when she needs to go so im struggling with telling when she needs to go. i go outside with her at least 15 mins after she eats and drinks but most of the time she doesnt potty so im thinking about upping the time between eating time and potty time little by little to figure out her schedule.
i think i just need to get treats for her and give her more positive affirmations but im seriously at a standstill and need a temporary alternative.
i just need tips!! i dont feed/water her in her crate but im going to start doing that. i want to make her crate a safe space for her. and i want her to get on a potty schedule but it insanely hard when she thinks my carpet is the perfect place to pee.
