So I got my 8 week old golden mix about 4 days ago, and his training is going great in that he is 100% toileting outside, sitting when told to, and even learning to lie down. He’s also sleeping downstairs by himself at night with no crying; so all in all, the best case scenario.
HOWEVER the main issue we’re having at the minute is when he’s playing and is overexcited, he bits your clothes/ankles/sleeves and will not let go. He’s growling and trying to play tug of war, but when I offer him another toy, he does not let go. Offering a treat doesn’t work because he will always let go and sit nicely when he knows he’s getting a treat and I don’t have a treat or a toy on-hand every second and by the time I’ve walked into the kitchen to get a treat with him attached to my leg, he’s already ripped my trousers. Anyone any advice for this behaviour and how to stop biting in general? I feel like he can’t play without wanting to bite your hand and my solution is to go and get some puppy dentastix and a tug of war toy because I think it’s a mix between teething and playing, but just from an obedience perspective what do I do?
