I have a pretty cool dog and a lot of times when he is walked people will ask to pet him. The issue is I don’t think he would bite someone ever. He’s 5 and never bites or is aggressive, just barks when scared. However, if some random person wants to pet him, he will walk up kind of near them, but if they reach out to pet him, he just barks. Of course, a random dog barking at people in the park isn’t a good look.
I’m wondering how we can train him to be less afraid and more comfortable with new people. He does this when people enter our house too, where he will bark and back up, but once he gets used to them he really likes people. I think him being able to socialize more would really help him and us.
