I’ve been slowly considering adopting a dog sometime in the near future (I still have no idea on the breed that would be best suited for me, there’s more research to be done there) but rather than adopting from a shelter like I was originally planning on doing, I may consider going with a breeder instead.
I know adopting through a shelter would be the responsible thing to do, and I am still open to that option, but I’ve had a really bad experience with our last shelter dog and I don’t know if I can risk reliving that experience again. I would prefer to go through a more reliable option.
But my question is, how do I know if a breeder is reputable? What are the signs I need to look for?
