How do I go shower, go to the bathroom, etc, before puppy is fully crate trained?

My puppy isn't fully crate trained yet. When I leave his sight, he screams bloody murder. I've only had him for a week, so obviously, he is still adjusting. But I don't know how to use the toilet myself or shower (where I am out of his sight) with him feeling comfortable in his own pen/crate yet. Crate training and separation training takes time – so what do I do in the meantime? Should I bring his crate into the bathroom with me? Bring him in the bathroom on a leash? Thanks
