How do I get my dog to only pee once outside the condo gate?

Hi, so we recently moved to a new condo development and the residents do not like dogs peeing on the grass lawns in the compound.

I've been carrying my dog out the back gate to pee but he's getting really heavy and it's beginning to be a struggle to carry him.

The problem is that once we are out of our lift lobby, we have to walk along a 50m grass lawn til we reach the gate to exit the compound. How do I prevent him from peeing on this rather large grass area? Naturally there are a lot of scents and he sniffs the grass which could lead to peeing/marking.

Any tips would be so helpful. Thank you.
