I currently have a 6 month old puppy that hasn’t had a chance to learn how to swim (or show her instinctive ability to swim) yet. We live near a beach and took her back in September, but she basically runs away from the waves when they come in and then chases them out. Never getting deep enough to swim.
We also co-own a boat with my in-laws, but we never had a chance to use it after we got her and it’s now closed for the season. We really want her to be comfortable around water, given our location and the access to a boat, but I’m really at a loss of what to do.
She will have a life jacket once we’re on a boat, but I’m scared to bring her on if she is just going to panic in the water. How have others introduced their puppy to water and swimming?
