I posted about a year and a half ago here about my rescue pit mix puppy dealing with human aggression. I was so defeated. I felt that despite all I did, my puppy was going to end up a BE. Eventually, i took her to a veterinary behaviorist and trainer who taught me how to help her properly.
My dog is amazing you guys. She is 2 and a half years old and she is my best friend. I do NOT regret getting her at all. She was put on fluoxetine 2 months ago now (as am i haha) and she is doing so much better, but even before that she was honestly a great dog. She will ALWAYS be that dog that will bite an intruder on her property. She has a visceral reaction to a UPS uniform lol. But she is smart, obedient, respectful, tolerant, and the most forgiving of my mistakes. I can take her on walks and runs and she is a perfect partner. She goes camping and hiking with me. She comes to work with me. She comes on vacation with me. She is adaptable and so willing. I love this dog so much.
Guys it gets better. Especially if you’re dealing with aggression, let me be the light I could not find when I was in the dredges. My number one advice is to get into a board accredited veterinary behaviorist. I know that is expensive but for me it was worth every penny.
