So pup (almost 5 months) was going almost a month strong of no potty accidents in the house, so I decided to take him upstairs while I cleaned our bedroom. I took him out more frequent than normal (30 min), had him on a leash with my eyes on him, but I was a few minutes from finishing up my last task so pushed his potty break another 10 and well I learned that lesson.
The worry though is now the holidays. Totally get it. Upstairs is a new space and seems like fair game, but now I'm really worried about the holidays and being in a new space with all these people. I'm going to my parents house and my dad doesn't love dogs. I also have family coming to visit that I haven't seen in years that don't love dogs either. I can't skip because my grandma is getting older and I don't know how many more times I'll get to see her. Really just my mom (who has a perfectly trained senior dog that bothers no one) will be okay if my puppy has an accident. The rest of the family will act like he peed in their food.
I'll definitely be running a stricter crate schedule than I do at home of 2 down 1 up since the senior dog is unfortunately not able to play like they want to (13 with bad back legs) and I want to make sure pup plays nice. He'll also do a lot of play in their large backyard so I expect he will need the rest. Plus I don't want to wait until he's showing signs of being overtired before putting him down. I plan on taking little man out every 30 minutes when he's up and inside. Any other ways to try and minimize accidents?
