Hello everyone I have a puppy for a month now, he is a cute 3 months old golden retriever but has big food agression/ressource guarding problem. The breeder told us to often be there when he gets his meals and touch the kibbles which we did. He has no food agression with his kibbles/treats. When he was a bit younger, when he had a big treat he would growl if we got near him but calmed down. Now , we decided to let him eat his fancy treats in peace, praising him each time, petting him and he seems pretty content with that and doesn't show any agression with those fancy bits.
The problem comes when we're outside. He tries to eat EVERYTHING. Sticks are OK for us as long if there's no risks of choking. He usually has no problem except if it's the stick. He shows a bit of agression towards tissues as well, but as it's dirty people's tissue and obviously it's tissue I don't want him to eat that and try to get it out of his mouth but simetimes he growls and try to bite my hand off.
He does the same when he finds food but ten times worse. Today he found a big chunk of something that seemed like bread and tried to eat it as fast as possible. I tried to get it off his mouth once again but he growled and bit me. Litteraly bit my finger.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or what to do to correct this behavior. I've never had this issue with my former puppies. None of them showed any food agression, and were pretty okay if we took something out of their month when they ate something they shouldn't.
Any advice ?
