Dog refuses to go to the bathroom in snow

So I’ve seen all the funny memes about when a little dog sees snow and is like hee hee I’m pooping in the house now.

We’ve had our small dog for almost a year now. I don’t recall this being an issue when we got her but we didn’t have the snow last year that we do now.

It’s a struggle. In good weather she is very regimented: am pee, fed, poop, pee. Mid afternoon pee, then dinner same deal. Don’t need to walk her, she goes right out and does her business quickly.

With the snow, especially if it’s actively snowing, she won’t go. She goes outside and sits and waits.

So we keep her crated and try every 30 min or so.

Sometimes I’ll actually walk her but we are literally in a blizzard right now. I did just take her for a walk and got pummeled with snow, and no results.

This has been going on for hours now.

What do you guys do to get your dogs to go out in bad weather??

I really don’t want to resort to pee pads if I don’t have to.
