i know the title is crazy. i agree that if your dog hasn’t learned something, it’s your fault. my dog is now 13 months old and we have tried almost every method to potty train her. ever since she was 7 weeks we have encouraged pee pads, kept her contained in a playpen, then introduced outdoors once she had all her shots. the playpen didn’t last long, she kept finding ways to climb out of it. so we got a crate which works pretty much only for sleeping. i have tried almost every method i could find for potty training her. i think the biggest problem is that she doesn’t let us know when she needs to go. i’ve tried to find tells in her behavior, i tried a bell on the door. she knows that she goes potty outside. she has a routine that she goes outside and pees or poops whenever she’s let out of the crate. but most of the time she doesn’t go outside and holds it until we go back inside. i’ve sprayed the house of any pee or poop smell so i was hoping it wouldn’t be a consistent habit. lately she’s stopped barking to be let out and is pooping and peeing in the crate on her bedding. i don’t know why this is happening or what else i can do to help. i feel like she needs more of a routine but her poop schedule is almost never the same day to day. my older dog was potty trained so easily so i guess im just kinda lost right now. please help me!!
