Hello everyone, my dog is a 1.5-year-old English Setter. She has a habit of hiding bones and sometimes toys in our couch cushions. Yesterday she was digging in the couch trying to retrieve a toy she had hidden. I thought she was struggling, so I pulled the toy out for her.
After that, she started pacing around the house with the toy in her mouth and whining. I’ve helped her retrieve toys from the couch before, and she’s never reacted like this.
It’s now been about 24 hours, and she’s still pacing and whining while carrying toys, including different ones. Otherwise, her behavior seems normal: she’s active, alert, and interested in play but she is refusing to eat her kibble all of a sudden? She’ll eat like cheese or whatever, but not her own food.
She’s never done anything like this before, so I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or has insight into what might be going on. I don’t think this warrants a vet visit at this point, but I do feel bad that she seems unsettled.
