We adopted our puppy, Lazlo, at around 12 weeks. He's a bospin and possibly part angel. The first nights of crate training were rough, but he caught on fast. Now he sleeps in the kennel without issue every night. It's been similar with all the training we've thrown at him. He's 20 weeks now and has almost every command down pat (with the exception of roll over, which he struggles with simply because he doesn't like to do it). He has no destructive behavior asides from a pension for socks and fall leaves. Walks are a breeze, his current battle is not getting excited at every possible friend who walks by. He doesn't bark or show agression towards other dogs, despite not having much experience with them. Since getting him we've had maybe five house accidents, otherwise he's always gone potty outside and does well at asking to go.
I used to be a dog groomer, and am well experienced with dogs and puppies. I knew when we adopted him that we would be doing obedience training right away. I just wasn't expecting him to take so well to it. We do about thirty minutes of training each day in multiple short sessions. Usually in the morning before I go to work, more when I come home for lunch, then again before dinner.
I'm in awe of how well he's doing, but it makes me wonder how the teenage phase is going to go. Is my sweet baby boy going to turn heel? I'm cherishing how wonderful and well behaved he is now, just wanting to get an idea of what others have experienced.
