Hey Reddit, still looking for advice on my puppy's crate anxiety. I've been working with him for about a month and understand he's a bit anxious when left alone; it's more about being alone than being away from me specifically. My puppy's crate is large and comfortable, but he still doesn't like it and keeps running out. I continue trying to feed him in the crate, but he still runs out, and I can see his mistrust towards it. When I close the crate door, he cries for around 20 minutes, then stops and falls asleep. However, each time, the crying becomes more aggressive and louder. He's now only started sleeping in the house during all-day naps, whereas before he wouldn't sleep at all without forced naps. Currently, he only sleeps if I lie on the couch, motionless, next to him, but I can't be an immobile person lying on the couch for 19 hours a day. I would like him to sleep in his crate and feel that it's his personal safe space, instead, I can see his contempt for the crate. He is also very active, and I understand the crate is the safest place for him while we're out, as our city isn't pet-friendly at all.
