We brought home our puppy Sept 27th and he was estimated at 10, almost 11 weeks old. While he may have had a pee accident every once in a while, the last couple weeks, he had been great over night. No accidents!
I moved back the divider to give him more space two weeks ago. Then last weekend, our luck turned. He had a random accident in his kennel with the door open after just pooping outside in the middle of the day. He was in there while I was doing dishes, and didn’t cry or anything. I will note, it was runny although the poop had just taken wasn’t. It was soft, but not runny.
This weekend, similar scenario. I’ve included his feeding schedule below as it does change over the weekend. He’ll be 16 weeks tomorrow. He settles in his crate around 7/7:30pm, go out to potty around 9:30pm, wakes at 5:30pm. I’ve also reduced the amount of space after last nights accident so he has enough room to stand and turn around comfortably.
Diet: taste of the wild practice steam puppy 2/3cup 3 times a day
Monday through Friday: Breakfast 6am Lunch 2:30 to 4pm Dinner 6pm
Saturdays: Breakfast at group class between 10 between 11am Lunch 2:30 to 4pm Dinner 6pm
Sundays: Breakfast 8 or 9am Lunch 2:30 to 4pm Dinner 6pm
I think the later breakfast may be screwing with his bowels at night? Or maybe a reaction to the legumes in the food? I know that their potty needs change over time, but I haven’t experienced this kind of regression with previous dogs. His new food comes Wednesday and well slowly be transitioning him.
