Concerning behaviour

Hi and sorry in advance for this long post.

I’ve had my Corgi puppy for just over a month now and she is 5 months old. Now everything hasn’t been plain sailing but thats as expected with a pup. However she has been showing some very concerning behaviour today and it is the first time this has happened since we got her.

We have an older dog (chihuahua cross, 12) and they have been okay with each other for the most part: the older dog sort just stays out of her space, they walk together fine and often have the odd cuddle on the couch.

On three separate occasions just today they have been aggressive towards one another: – first occurrence – her over a sock in the bed in the kitchen

  • second occurrence – I have to hand feed the older boy sometimes so I was sat between them doing that whilst she was lay next to me watching (she had just finished her own dinner), one he was done she step foot in the same bed and all hell broke loose. I had to pull them apart.

  • third occurrence – this was hard to tell cos it all happened so quickly. She went into the kitchen and came back whilst he was walking around the couch. The next minute she just did a run and jump towards the couch – no growling or anything. She gets little bursts of energy every now and then and does that but after the previous incidents it was just concerning.

I do have a dog trainer coming in next week as there are things that need work and have been struggling myself. But does anyone have any advice on what we can do here to nip this in the bud at once? I am all over the place and an anxious mess, worrying about having to move out of my parents or give her up for rehoming if it continues.
