My pup is 9 months and recently I feel like we have got into a brilliant routine. He is generally calmer (he was such an excitable young pup) and more focused on me (particularly out on walks).
However, I have noticed he is suddenly a bit more fearful of bigger dogs. When greeting a bigger dog he has always made himself smaller/sort of covered whilst wagging. However today, we had to walk past a German Shepard on a narrow path to get home (who was very well behaved) and he just didnt even want to walk past he was so scared. He was crouching fully to the floor! I always encourage him to do things at his own pace and praise when he works out something isn't scary.
Does this sound like another fear period? Is there anything I should be doing to help support him and build his confidence?
