Best small/med breeds for toddlers & cats

**Introduction**

No, I’ve owned a Golden Retriever and a Corgi.

No. Leaning towards reputable breeder due to the importance of dog having a good temperament.

3) Describe your ideal dog.

Calm, patient, playful, cuddly. Won’t obsessively chase our cats. Good with young children (ages 1and 3)

4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?

Beagle, yorkie, Havanese, cavapoo, mini daschund, Labrador.

5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?

Basic obedience. Not pulling on leash.

6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport?

**Care Commitments**

7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?

More time at first when it’s a puppy. Then probably 30 min walks once or twice per day, with intermittent play throughout the day.

8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?

30 min- 1 hr. Includes walks and dog parks.

9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?

Brushing ok occasionally or daily. Don’t want to groom much on my own.

Don’t want a lot of barking or slobber. Some shedding ok.

Not often at all. There’s almost always at least one adult at home.

My husband has the same preference as myself.

3 cats. One 14 yrs & two 8 month old kittens

Near Atlanta. No laws.

Avg summer day is 80-95 and humid. Winters are mild, but can get down to mid 20’s or 30’s on occasion.
