Bernedoodle puppy – bad separation anxiety – Did we make a bad decision in getting a puppy?

Please help if anyone has advice.

We got our Mini Bernedoodle puppy about 2 weeks ago. He is 12 weeks as of 11/2 His potty training is getting better and he is generally good when we are home with him. That’s the kicker though.

I work from home sometimes but I have to travel for work randomly throughout the week. And my significant other is a nurse that works 12 hour shifts. There is going to come a time that we are both gone for upwards of 12+ hours.

I built him a 6’ x 8’ x 4’ tall pen in our basement that has a crate in it. He can last maybe 2 – 5 hours on a good day and 30 minutes on a bad day. When he gets stressed he throws his body at the walls and is unable to be calmed. He is not old enough nor vaccinated fully to go to puppy day care. We just don’t know what to do when we both have to be gone.

If anyone has suggestions on how we can make training better or if there are medications that work please let me know.
