I have a VERY food-motivated, active, attention deficit golden retriever. Of course she begs for food, and unfortunately it's reinforced by other members in the house (ok, sometimes I do it too, but not as often lol).
It appears to be mentally difficult for her to be still when she gets excited, which got me thinking… When dogs beg for food by sitting there, doing their best to look sad and cute while maintaining uninterrupted concentration on the food – does this serve as a form of mental enrichment by exercising their ability to hold focus for extended periods of time?
