To start with, I’m just a tourist passing through. We’ve noticed that most of the “free-roaming” dogs here in Bali are in pretty ok shape, comparing to other SEA countries. Until we came across two few days ago … we’ve tried to contact local rescues but they are all overpopulated. They have provided a tons of advice and guidance and asked us to step in if possible.
So we did – we went to talk the villagers and found out that these two dogs do not have an owner, but they do get food from the villagers here and there. The villagers were kind enough to let us offer help … so we’ve lined up a few things with a pet catcher and vet – long story short, these two dogs are with the vet now and I’ll go there in a bit again.
They are both absolute angels – didn’t throw a fit when we tried to catch them, didn’t make any noises or did anything at all the whole car ride to the vet. The black one is just a baby (6-7months, 5kg) and is so, so gentle and sweet. The yellow one should be around 7 years old (9kg) and we think he’s a terrier mix.
We will be leaving tomorrow and I’m just trying my luck here – I’ll be paying for the sterilization and all the vaccines etc. If no one is interested then we will have to bring them back to the original village which truly breaks my heart. I wish I could bring them back to where we are from but it’s just impossible right now 🙁
