advice on crate training and covering the crate

I got a plastic crate for my puppy and put a thick cotton towel over it (unfortunately it's all I had at the moment). I put the towel to my face to see if I could breathe through it, I could but not perfectly. Now I'm scared I hurt my puppy, I had her in there for an hour with it completely covered.
