Just rescued a 9mo German shepherd / golden retriever mix (allegedly) and they are great but she is a big time Velcro dog. Wants to be next to me 24/7 I can’t even close the dog to shower etc. Have cameras and she whines in the crate for a few minutes whenever I leave the room or go to work before settling down.
Any tips on making them more independent? I try not to give too much attention and go about my day as if they were not there but they just stick right with me no matter what. I very much enjoy receiving her love but makes me sad when I have to leave and she starts whining and hitting the crate. Don’t think she has much problem with the crate it’s just that initial period of being alone
