We’ve had a toy cavoodle for 7 months or so, in August 16 we got him he was 9 weeks. He acclimated to outdoor potty really quick, and apart from 7-8 mistakes in the first week has been peeing and pooing on the grass outside for months. Until last week.
He pee’d once in our hallway corridor, and we were stunned but thought maybe it was an error or he really had to go. Again he hasnt made an incident since he was 10 weeks old, so we just put it down to an error. The next day he poo’d outside in the morn, then an hour later did a small poo in the corridor again? Like just a tiny one? We used odor remover in both these spots as well.
Today, i took him outside as usual. He played around whatever for 15-20 mins. Usually he would pee and whatever but he didnt. I even held up a watermelon and said ‘potty’ and nothing. So assumed he didnt have to go. Normally if he has to go he’ll pee immediately then play around/
We come back in, and within 2 minutes he literally pees in that same corridoor spot? i immediately grabbed him and put him in the grass. then we carried him to the pee spot and said ‘no!’ and put him back in the pen
we’re absolutely stunned and this is really demotivating. for the next 3 days we’re gonna leave him in the pen and carry him between crate/pen/outdoors. We’re also gonna reward outdoor potty/poop again on the grass with small treats.
Could it be marking? We have an appointment with a vet in 2 weeks for planning his desexing surgery.
