We had a vet visit for my 67 pounds 7 month old Labrador Pitbull Mix puppy today.
He had been limping on and off for 4 weeks so it was time to get evaluated.
Xrays show arthritis and degeneration in both elbows, likely elbow dysplasia.
My puppy is ACTIVE and high energy. He lives for ball throws and playing/running with other dogs.
We are calling tomorrow to try to get into an ortho for treatment and management options, but has anyone else had a puppy diagnosed similarly?
Our vet said the lifestyle we thought he'd have– hikes, ball play, running, etc aren't an option anymore.
My heart is broken and I am devastated about the potential impact to my babies quality of life.
Has anyone else managed this condition for their hyper active furbaby?
