4am wake ups and constant accidents

Hi – we’ve had our adorable little guy for almost 3 weeks – he is 11 weeks old, and we love him but he’s driving us a little crazy and I need some advice on multiple fronts. He wakes up at 4am to potty without fail – everyday – that’s fine he usually does his business goes back into the crate (we keep it super boring) but will cry and whine for almost an hour before being able to settle when usually he’s in the crate and settles just fine. He eats around 6:30/6:45 at night – we’ve been limiting naps at night so we are trying to keep him awake and entertained with a frozen Kong in his pen while we eat dinner (around 7:15/7:30) and will do couch time and chew toys until about 8:30. Then he goes into his pen for some independent play until his last potty break at 9:30ish.

So at 5 we’ve been giving him a lick mat or frozen carrot in the pen but that only keeps him occupied for 15 minutes before he is crying again – today he even climbed out of the pen!! He ran right to our bedroom down the hall. We then don’t feed him until 6:15 which is when we are hoping he gets to be on schedule for. Any advice on getting him to sleep a little later?

Now the pen in the mornings – we’ve try to give him some freedom in there after breakfast and he is constantly just peeing in the pen with no warning – we’ve taken him out and he’s gone outside but 10 minutes later will pee in his pen. I work from home and don’t want him constantly being in the crate but if he is in his pen unsupervised for even 5 minutes (even after taking him out and he goes) he pees in the pen. I’ve tried pee pads and he just eats them. I can’t work from the couch all day while he roams the pen- so any advice there too I’ll take.
