My boy, a mixed black lab and German shepherd, is turning 1 this month. He’s a great dog, potty training was easy, he didn’t tear up the house or bite a lot during teething. He’s a very social dog. Which is a good thing except he is so very vocal. Whenever he sees someone outside, he barks. Whenever a dog is outside, he barks. He barks at everything. As we go into summer, I worry that the barking will drive me crazier than it already does. The only thing that works is closing the doggy door. I beg for ideas to help lessen the barking. I still want him to play with neighbor dogs and to alert to problems but the constant noise is draining.
Oh and I should add, we have another dog who taught him to sing when certain people come home and who is an instigator. I’ll finally get the puppy quiet and then she’ll ruff once and it starts all over again.
I really hope this makes sense.
