  • my puppy peed on me today

as the title says. i had him (3 mo, toy poodle) on my bed while i was laying down, just relaxing (or trying to-he likes to shove his tongue up my nose when im laying down) after work, and my pup gets on my chest and looks down at me. and im like, aww my baby is so cute. and then i feel something warm. pee. he is peeing on my chest. full on. after we went outside not ten minutes before.

he’s in his crate now while i take a shower. i love my boy very much, but hes been a real handful lately. he’s teething worse, so biting more than normal, and is just going 90 to nothing whenever he’s not kenneled. and now he’s peeing on me.

crating him gives me some peace, but i can’t leave him in there all the time. what am i supposed to do when he’s out? he’s not interested in his kong or lick mats or anything when he’s out of his crate. all he wants to do is play, run, and bite me. and we cant go walking as much as we used to because it’s way too cold now. what am i supposed to do with this tasmanian devil? i love him more than anything but if he keeps peeing on me he might be moved down a spot or two.

  • 5 month old husky puppy still won’t go potty outside.

We have a husky girl ( not our first husky) who is refusing to go outside. All puppy pads have been removed, 💩 is thrown outside in the same spot. She is taken out even hour, and 30 min after eating. We have also kept her outside up to an hour, which right now is hard when you live in the Midwest with no fence. She is also taken outside right when she goes… she goes when she is teathered to me, and will not even go on walks. (Up to an hour)

Looking for any advice for our vert loved yet stubborn girl.

  • Early waking- 0500- advice please

Hey all- looking for some advice please.

Have a 4 a bit month old goldendoodle who is doing great generally. One slightly annoying things is that she consistently wakes up at 0500.

She goes to sleep at 2100 and now sleeps through until 0500, but when I take her out to the toilet and then try and settle her again, she barks.

I live in a detached house and I can’t have her bark a lot at this time disturbing my neighbours.

She’s currently still sleeping next to my bed in a small pen/crate combo. Plan is to move her slowly out of my room once she’s had a couple of weeks of solid sleep (she only started sleeping through the night on the weekend).

I tend to wake up as she starts moving and take her to the loo at 0500 before she starts barking and making a fuss.

    Any ideas please?

  • Puppy getting a daycare warning?

I just adopted a puppy a month ago after losing my heart dog. My puppy is about 6 months old, a rescue and has had no training the first 6 months of her life. Overall, she has done so well. She is now potty trained, crate trained, and absolutely LOVES all people and all dogs. Her main thing I’ve been working on is her puppy nibbling. It’s a bad habit that frustrates me, but she’s been doing a lot better. Replacing with a toy or turning around and ignoring her discourages the behavior. I’m a vet tech and I bring her to work with me most days, but I decided I’d bring her to daycare once or twice a week so she could play and get exercise.

She’s been going for about 2 weeks no problem. I told them in the beginning she still has some puppy biting habits and they said that’s totally fine and she’ll grow out of it with time. And now all of a sudden today I’m told she won’t be able to continue daycare if she doesn’t get training for her puppy biting. I feel incredibly embarrassed as I’ve been working hard myself on this and have seen improvements. They of course want me to see their own trainer, who has no credentials. I feel like I’m being upsold on training services? If I’m going to use a professional trainer, I have many reputable trainers as a veterinary professional that I would rather use for the money.

Has this happened to anyone else? They’re acting like my puppy is some aggressive monster because she nibbles when she’s excited and playful. I’m just so confused and unsure what to do.

  • Potty training trenches

PLSSS HELPP !!!! My 10 week old Goldendoodle has been doing great with crate training and potty training on a fresh patch of grass in her play pen but every time we take her out of the pen to train or play she pees or pops on my carpets 😭 only my carpets. I have a timer on my phone set for 30 mins to take her out and she’ll do good for a couple of days with the 30 mins and then randomly will pee before the 30 mins are up even though she just used it outside. My trainer said once she is doing good every 30 mins after a couple days bump it by 15 mins and if she has a accident go back to 30 mins . I have done everything he’s told us to do from leashing her to me and we don’t use puppy pads in her pen. She is doing good in her crate but we still wake up at 2:30-3:00 am for a potty break at night which we don’t mind but I thought she was doing good and recently discovered that she has been peeing on her blanket so we removed that and just left her snuggle puppy. But now she’s also peeing on that so should I go back to waking her up at 12 AM and 4am like we used to or try to get her to hold her bladder till 2:30-3:00 when she normally barks and wakes me up according to my trainer we shouldn’t wake her up during her sleep like we wouldn’t with a baby. just need some recommendation some new advice because his really isn’t working. Also, she eats 6am- 10am- 4pm three times a day. Last water is at 7pm. Last restroom break is at 9am. Wakes at 2:30/3:00 am potty break and 7:00am again. Rest of the restroom breaks are a bit more random. I only take her out of her Crate to use the restroom. If I hear her restroom cry I let her calm down first, of course before I take her out. Also, I took her out like after eating and after napping she does amazing when in the playpen it’s just when she’s let out. she is confined to the living room when she’s out so it’s not like she’s roaming the whole house and then I’ve got so much contradicting information to let her finish going potty so I won’t spook her and so she won’t have bad association with using the restroom. And other to pick her up immediately but then it’s a trail of pee leading out. THE PEE WONT STOP

  • I can’t get my puppy to stop chewing the couch legs…help

I’m about to lose my mind 😅 She won’t listen to leave it, or be redirected by something like an antler. I had them blocked off by objects for a little bit, but it was making the small living room so cluttered, that I had to put that stuff away. 😅 Also, bitter spray doesn’t stop her. What can I do?

  • Lost My Soul Dog, New Dog Blues

I had my best friend and soul dog pass away unexpectedly in March of 2023. He was only 8. He was my baby since 2014 and he was with me through so much in life. He was perfect, slept with me at night, had the right amount of playfulness. Just my perfect dog despite the fact that he was far from perfectly trained. He was still just essentially my soul mate in dog form. I wasn’t with him when it happened, which has only given me a ton of guilt on top of the awful grief and heartbreak. I have dreams constantly where I’m trying to find him and help him come back to life. There isn’t a day that passes that I don’t think about him.

I since have tried to tell my boyfriend over the years that I want another dog. Tried to explain how life without a dog feels incomplete and just different. How much love could be introduced with a new dog. After a little more than three years together, he relented and decided we could get one. We saw an adorable girl who needed a home and met her. She’s only two but she’s extremely well behaved and is a sweet dog. Everything went well and we decided to bring her home. The day after we brought her home, I fell into deep depression and I have been bawling my heart out every single day since. I miss my old dog and I didn’t realize that bringing another dog into my home would trigger me so hard. I know it’s not this lovely new girl’s fault. I do like her. I just can’t feel the same connection and I feel so guilty for having her when I feel like I let him down and like he should still be with me.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any advice on how to live on without my soul dog while also accepting a new dog into my life?

  • 80s/90s kids,Anyone else overwhelmed with sheer amount of info? I feel as if / know my parents did zero training and we just had great dogs. Trying to do my due diligence and look up info and be a good dog parent.

Just Got a 7.5 Week old Black Lab puppy who is just prescious. I've been trying to prep for the first 3-4 weeks before we got her,. watching videos, reading articles and it just seems like there are so many methods and opinions.

Playpen or no playpen, crying In crate for 20 min is fine, but no that 20 min is torture. Plus how do you know if something is just her being young and rambunctious or is it the path to separation anxiety?

All I want is to be able to have a pooch comfortable in her crate, learns eventually not to bite and avoids separation anxiety. Honestly the other stuff could come later as long as she's fed ,watered , safe and happy.

My parents did none of thisi with both of our dogs in our young life into the college years .Sure we had issues with chewing and stuff with pups but eventually they just became great dogs who were good on a leash , good recall and just existed in the house , no crates, gates or anything.

I feel like everyone else's dog I knew growing up were the same way.
