Keeping Puppy in Crate
My husband and I have adopted a puppy! He’s a mutt, but we know he’s part corgi. We both grew up with dogs. He’s about 8.5 weeks old.
We’ve tried crate training the way our puppies have done in the past, but he doesn’t seem receptive. If we place him inside, he tries to climb out, even if someone is right next to the door. We’ve tried placing him in while he’s sleeping, but he usually wakes up and immediately tries to climb out.
If we shut the door, he loses it and begins biting and gnawing at the bars. He barks and howls to such a degree that our neighbors have complained.
None of the four puppies we’ve had in the past have ever had this reaction. What do you guys recommend?

Is there a way to safely crochet dog toys for puppies?
My adorable 12 week old golden doodle keeps trying to steal the crochet amigurumi creatures I’m working on. Is there a way to make something safe for her?
I’m considering using a cotton/nylon blend yarn that’s stronger than worsted yarn and crocheting in a way to ensure that the weave is tight. We also don’t let our pup have toys unsupervised.
Let me know if this is a bad idea. I haven’t slept properly in like 3 weeks so it could be.

Could a dog do both hunting and service work?
Just curious because I haven’t really thought about it before and I’m wondering if it’s ever been done, and if not I wonder why?

Is a big dog a deterrent?
Do you guys think getting a large dog breed for example a doberman or germen shepherd has helped you feel safer? especially women

Carpet Pisser
He peed on my rug, man….
I have an 11yo 100lb dog that I rescued two years ago. He has gotten in the habit of pissing in the house while I am at work and sometimes when I am home. He never used to do this, and at night he doesn't do it…he is also drinking more than usual amounts of water (which I have cut down).
It's really disgusting and is adding up with pee pads and paper towels. Not sure I can keep this up for the next three years before he dies. I will have disgusting carpets and pergo floor with warped boards.
I haven't ruled out old age and I have not taken him to the vet yet. Or I wonder if he is getting laszyfrustrated with being home alone while I am at work for 8 hours a day? My exe's dog's were carpet pissers and maybe he smells their urine and thinks it's ok??
Any thoughts of what I can do? crate him? Diapers?
