  • Dog won’t stop eating EVERYTHING

I’m really starting to wonder if she has pica or something. She’s only 7 months or so so she’s still a puppy and obviously curious. But I go outside to smoke occasionally for like 5 mins and I try to put her up every time but sometimes just end up closing doors and watching her through the windows. But she literally eats everything she can get ahold of, even in front of me. I have to have it 100% clean constantly which is difficult because I’m chronically ill and have trouble doing that. She eats tags, makeup, her own poop, cat litter, plastic bottles, she just ate an entire bottle of lube that I guess fell under the bed last night that I didn’t see. I had to take her to the vet months ago because she was bleeding and she ended up having to get screws removed from her stomach from the construction outside. She jumps up on counters to get stuff if I’m not watching her 24/7. I’m just not sure what to do at all because I can’t always make sure everything is 100% up and away from her. And she knows she’s done something wrong, I can tell from her body language. But she literally just won’t stop doing it no matter what and I’m at a loss of what to do. She’s had some bathroom issues too, like instead of going outside she’ll hold it and do it on the floor in my living room and I’m in the middle of selling my condo so I’m hoping it will be easier once I have a yard but I’m just not sure and nervous it will continue and I don’t know what to do with her. I would do training classes but it’s a bit much right now with my financial situation with moving.

  • First time puppy training seeking advice

Hi we have a 5 month old puppy who is very loving and friendly to all people and other dogs and the main things we are trying to focus on right now and would appreciate advice about are switching pad trained (mostly)to outdoor potty training ,he has a problem with jumping up on people which most don't mind but he also tries to jump and play with kids , pawing like he likes to use his hands a lot but it scratches, oh and he pulls really hard on the leash . Any advice is appreciated. I've done research but asking for advice on here can't hurt and this is our first dog .

  • Where should I put my puppy’s crate?

I recently posted another crate training post, this one is just surrounded on where the best place for her crate is

The way my house is laid out, my bedroom is downstairs and the living room with the sliding door access to the backyard is upstairs. When I first got my puppy, I decided I’m going to put her crate in the living room so that potty training would be a bit easier as there is easier access to outside. I sleep on the couch near her crate, because I don’t want her to sleep in the living room alone. I did this with the intention of eventually moving her crate downstairs to my room, so that she can still sleep near me when I sleep in my bed.

Just need advice. Is it better to leave her crate in the living room and make her sleep alone up there? She’s only 13 weeks still can’t hold her bladder throughout the night, so I’m scared I wouldn’t hear her asking to come out to potty. Or should I move it downstairs so that she’s more comfortable being near me and just bring her up every time she needs to potty? It’s also convenient for it to be in the living room because I try to feed her meals in there to build a positive association with the crate, and it’s right next to the kitchen where I prep her food. Not sure how much longer to keep doing that either.

  • My pup resource guards me?

Hi! Me and my husband have a 3 year old bichon and we’ve had him since he’s 3 months old. We noticed a few months back that when our pup and I are in bed and I’m sleeping, he gets really aggressive with my husband when he’s about to come to bed.

Our pup is not aggressive. He loves to play and always snuggles with the both of us but for some reason, he now doesn’t want my husband to join us in bed lol. Sometimes, we 3 are all gonna sleep and that’s fine but my husband goes to the bathroom in the middle of night and he can’t come back anymore because our puppy is getting ready to bite him.

Btw, he doesn’t do this when it’s them sleeping. I can hop onto the bed just fine and he’s never aggressive with me. What could be causing his beef with my husband when I’m sleeping?

  • Puppy on the sofa – will it cause joint issues?

My 14 week old puppy (Old English Sheepdog) loves jumping up on the sofa (and off sometimes) I try to catch him to lift him up myself and the same to put him back on the floor, but sometimes he's just too quick for me.

He also tries to jump on the bed but fails as he's too short so I lift him up.

I'm so worried he's going to do damage to his hips and elbows.

He gets carried up and down the stairs.

I tried to make steps out of pillows everywhere but it makes it hard for us humans to sit down!

Would some doggy steps help or would that be just as bad as using the stairs?

  • How do you bathe your large dog at home?

As a puppy I carried my pup up the stairs to my bathtub, and gave him a bath there. Well, now he's large and heavy and can't climb our steep stairs (we never tried it, but it isn't safe) so I'm thinking of giving him baths in the garden if it's not too cold outside, or to install a small shower cabin in our garage, but I fear the whole garage will end up wet.

If you bathe your dog, how? The nearest doggy bath station is at least an hour driving away.

  • I booked a One-way trip from the US to SE Asia via Japan Air. I want to take my dog.

I booked a one-way trip to SE Asia for Feb '26 via JAL. The first leg is thru American Air to Chicago, followed by the international leg. I want to take my 15 lb dog in the cabin with me, but it's so confusing to understand the protocols.

Anyone have any experience doing this? Where do I start?

UPDATE: Destination in Vietnam. Will be flying thru Narita then to Ho Chi Minh. Five days later I'll grab a domestic flight to Da Nang for several months. (Or I might take a train to Da Nang.)

I've traveled to Vietnam multiple times for 15 years, but never with my dog. That 13 hour flight gives me real concern for my pet.
