  • 10 month old puppy can’t hold it’s pee for 6 hours.

She's use to having someone around constantly but my work hours sometime mean I won't see her for 8 hours. I even have somrome checking in on her in between but today I had her out at 11 and she did many pees and by the time the person came in by 5 she had peed on the floor. I know she's a puppy but I suspect she fully doesn't have potty training down since this has happened good few times before. It's like she can't wait.

I'm not sure what to do and I really don't want to put this dog in diapers or get a pee pad because I'm positive that will cement the problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: I also want to add that I suspect this may be behavioual. I keep her in the kitchen when I'm gone which is spacious and has toys but when she was found she had pulled cushions and blankets onto the floor. She's clearly frustrated but I don't trust her to not try to bolt out the front door when help arrives.

  • Car kennel size for 65lb golden

Hi! Looking to get a Ruffland or similar car kennel for transporting my Golden puppy, who will be about 65lb when she’s grown. Would a dog this size do ok in the intermediate Ruffland crate? This is only for car rides, so we do want a tighter fit. Thanks!

  • My 5 month old can not hold his bladder for more than an 30 minutes outside the crate however he can sleep for 10 hours overnight in his crate and have no accidents. is it normal for his bladder to be so weak during the day?

Pleaase advise I am a first time puppy owner to a cavapoo.

I have taken him to the vets he does not have a UTI they even tested his clutires twice.

He is bell trained and tells me when he needs to go toilet but he literally is going wee every 30 minutes outside the crate and everywhere I read it says he should be able to hold his bladder for 2-3 hours. Has any one else experienced this?

I guess I am just checking if anyone has ever been in this boat because it's exhausting, constantly going to the garden. I feel like I get nothing done with my day, I antipatpated that at almost 6 months it would have eased a bit.

I have tried timing the Intervals and slowly extending but he just can't seem to hold it. Any advice, suggestion or tips are welcome.

    Thanks in advance

  • When do puppy blues get better?

I’ve had my almost 6mos puppy since August and most days I cant shake the feeling that she may be better off with a family that may want her more than I do. She has gotten better with biting but she’s still a lot. I do take her to puppy lessons and puppy day care a couple times a week but idk. I don’t think I could really rehome her but I hope these feelings go away soon

  • I’m defeated at this point.

We recently got a puppy that just turned 3 months old about a week and a few days ago. She's been having trouble going potty outside so ive been working with her as much as possible. We finally started getting her going outside and using the potty and last night I noticed she wqs going in the house again but there wasnt much coming out and she was squatting several times over a relatively short period of time. I ended up taking her to the Pet ER and they loaded her with some medication for a UTI after a urine analysis. This did say that there was quite a bit of blood in her sample so it was hard to see the bacteria so I need to follow up before the medication runs out. Now, its just been following her around, taking her out, and trying to keep her hydrated all day. If I put her in her crate to relax for a bit, she goes poop (even after taking her outside) so then its back to cleaning up again. Its just a circle of frustration. I know i haven't had her long and these things take some time but also looking for any recommendations to help in the meantime.

  • Puppy won’t settle outside of crate or if we are around

Our puppy (4 months) settles perfectly in his crate or in his play pen if we aren't nearby, but absolutely will not settle outside of that. We have been hoping to work on the "capturing calmness" protocol, but are at a loss. We have tried leashing him so that he's limited to an area and can settle eventually, but he just whines and tries to leave or ends up jumping at us. We've tried it when we know he's tired, but that doesn't yield different results. We'll put him in his crate right after and he's knocked out within a few minutes, but he won't outside of it. He has a bed in his playpen that he'll settle in if we're farther away from him, but if we get too close, he pops up with excitement so we can't get to him to reward that behavior.

Is he just too young to learn how to settle or are we doing something wrong? We know he's a puppy and that he has a lot of energy to expel so he gets a tons of enrichment toys or games, chews, walks, and play. It's really just the later in the evenings when we're starting to settle down, we want him to be able to relax more so we don't have to put him in his crate so we can watch something on Netflix without him running around the house when we still have to keep a hawk eye on him.

  • Why are back clips on harnesses so frequently at the base of the harness rather than up higher between the shoulder blades?

We don't have issues with pulling, so prefer back clip to keep the leash out of the way. I had a cheap mesh vest style harness while my puppy was growing and looking to upgrade to a fancy padded harness (eg Ruffwear Front Range, Wilderdog, Fei and Eve, etc) now that she's full grown (20 pounds). A lot of the harnesses I see have just one back clip and I notice the back clip is all the way at the base of the harness, rather than up higher between the shoulder blades. In fact, the only harnesses I see with the back clips up higher are the ones with two back clips. I would think having it up higher would put more even pressure on the sternum if the dog were to pull/bolt, compared to yanking the whole harness back along the spine. In the two clip system I always assumed the one up higher was the default and the lower one was for a second leash if desired, but the harnesses with one clip defaulting to the lower location has me thinking. What am I missing?

  • Which names do you feel “belong to” your breed?

I have Alaskan malamutes, and the amount of malamutes named Thor I’ve seen is truly crazy.

I also feel as though Luna is a top choice for huskies, Bella is the chosen name for labs… just has me curious. What’s your dog breed, and what name do you feel like you see most of within it?

(Or you can make an observation in general, doesn’t have to be just a breed you own)
