I adopted my puppy Rukia 3 months after my first puppy Toffee passed away💔.

I met her about 3 x before being able to bring her home.

Her temperament reminded me of toffee , gentle, submissive, aloof….just existing lol

Then after bringing her home, she revealed herself to be very high energy lol which I wasn’t used to and really surprised me. It felt very hard to bond with her because she couldn’t focus and just didn’t seem to listen.

But almost a month later here we are and things got so much better.

Today I was staring at her while she’s eating and hit me how much I’m getting attached to her. She’s a teeny 5 pounds and getting a long body like her chiweenie mommy. I love her floppy ears . And I love when she rolls on her back and is just so playful.

She’s added so much playfulness and happiness to my life since losing Toffee. 💔 I miss toffee everyday but rukia is definitely helping me heal.

Hi everyone, I’m from Egypt, and together with a few French friends and a kind cemetery caretaker, we rescue, feed, and care for many stray dogs in our area. The number of dogs we’ve saved keeps growing, and we truly want to keep helping them — feeding them regularly, giving them medicines like Bravecto, vaccinating them, and sterilizing the females to stop the endless suffering.

Our dream is to one day buy a small piece of land where we can bring them all together, keep them safe, and rescue even more.

I’m looking to get a puppy and trying to do a ton of research before getting on, daily routines, preparing food, etc. I work from home and live in an apt complex. I’m a pretty chill person and would want a puppy to suit that (for the most part. I understand each puppies temperament is different). I’m wanting a breed that is no bigger than 15-20lbs.

Can anyone help with what breeds would suit my lifestyle? Pros and cons? Thank you for your help!!

As the title says! I have a 13wk Corgi/Border Collie Mix and we have been struggling to find a treat that works for motivation and rewarding during training.

We’ve been using boiled chicken and he does love it (thank god), but the main issue is that we’ll be working on training, he’ll take the treat/reward and start to play with it rather than eat 🤦🏼‍♀️

It detracts and distracts him from training and then I’m stuck with wondering what to do on how to move forward!

If he does end up being only play motivated, does anyone have resources or success stories with play training?

(Boyfriend and I did just get a bunch of treats to try, but he struggles to eat them in one bite even if I break them up. He would rather drop it and then eat on his own time)

Anyone else here been going to a few contests always the winners are small dogs kinda dressed up in a wagon/stroller and the wagon is the main peice of the costume?

Hi all! My dog, a cavachon, has like 5 or 6 lamby toys that she absolutely loves. Occasionally, she’ll start whining and howling while playing with the toys. She specifically does it with her lamby ones. I know she’s not in pain, but can anyone explain why she does this?

My pug puppy (13 weeks) is a bit of a terror. Biting toes, running around constantly, getting into everything he can, the usual puppy stuff. Only things that've worked have been tiring him out with a laser pointer that he loves chasing (I know it's not good for dogs, but it really drains the energy when I need some quiet, so it's not very often) and bully sticks. I got him one two-ish weeks ago and the end he chewed it from was white the entire way down. But the one I got him a day or two ago seems to have black spots in it. It smells fine, but the color is certainly concerning.

we recently introduced another pup into our life, she is an almost 4 month old female Norwegian elkhound(Rue). We currently have an 8 1/2 year old male Norwegian elkhound (Milo). My husband wanted to get a puppy for our older dog, I was not really gravitated toward either age of another dog if we added one, I was fine with an older dog too. However, our older elkie has been an “only child” for the majority of his life.

Milo has been patient with her, he’s adapting as one would expect. Rue wants everything Milo wants, I don’t know how to stop the behavior. She is persistent, it’s hard to keep her away from him and he’s very good but I’m nervous about this behavior if it came to her being another dog.

What should I do? I have not had a female dog that I’ve adopted previously. So while it’s normal puppy behavior to want what others want, I don’t know what training techniques to use to stop her.
